Desperate for His Glory: Focus. Forget. Press.

Desperate for His Glory: Focus. Forget. Press.

“I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead…” — Philippians 3:10

There is a difference between knowing church and knowing God.
There is a difference between experiencing a moment and living in His glory.

This message is a call to holy desperation — a cry that says, “God, however You need to do it, I need to know You. Not casually. Not through someone else’s revelation. I want to experience Your mighty power for myself.”

beyond routine: from bath to breakthrough

Sometimes we can become so accustomed to God’s presence that we treat it as common. We show up, we sing, we listen — but we stop expecting transformation.

God is not just a weekly cleansing.
He is a breaker.

There is another level of His glory available — the kind of presence that shifts atmospheres, breaks chains, heals families, restores minds, and transforms cities. But glory does not come where there is no preparation.

In 2 Chronicles 7, when Solomon finished praying, fire fell from heaven and the glory of the Lord filled the temple so powerfully that the priests could not even enter. But that moment did not happen randomly. It followed detailed obedience and intentional preparation.

Expectation without preparation leads to frustration.

We cannot invite God to dwell where we have not built space for Him.

the path to the next level: three instructions

The Apostle Paul gives us a roadmap in Philippians 3. If we want to experience God’s mighty power, we must:

1. Focus

“But I focus on this one thing…”

Distraction is one of the enemy’s primary weapons. We are pulled in a hundred directions — notifications, fear, bills, relationships, opinions, offense. A distracted believer becomes destabilized.

Focus on Christ.

  • Not the problem — the Provider.
  • Not the chaos — the Peace.
  • Not the opposition — the One who called you.

Where your focus goes, your strength flows.
When your mind is stayed on Him, peace follows.

Breakthrough begins with disciplined attention.

2. Forget

“Forgetting what is behind…”

You cannot move forward while staring backward.

Many are held hostage by:
  • Past failures
  • Old labels
  • Church hurt
  • Family wounds
  • Shame and regret

But if it didn’t take you out, it proves you are greater than what happened to you.

Yesterday is closed.
Grace is new today.

Freedom requires releasing the past so you can receive the promise.

3. Press

“I press on toward the goal…”

Opposition confirms purpose — it does not cancel it.

When warfare increases, it often signals that something significant is ahead. The enemy wants you discouraged, distracted, and exhausted. But strength is made perfect in weakness.

Press when it’s inconvenient.
Press when you’re tired.
Press when it’s hard.

The woman with the issue of blood pressed through the crowd. And pressing positioned her for healing.

Breakthrough is rarely passive. It is pursued.

preparation precedes glory

In 2 Chronicles, the temple was built with intentionality. There were instructions. Details mattered. Alignment mattered.

We cannot expect God’s results while ignoring God’s instructions.

Preparation looks like:
  • Repentance
  • Obedience
  • Prayer
  • Praise
  • Discipline
  • Alignment with His Word

He inhabits the praises of His people.
Have we built Him a place to dwell?

When focus, forgetting, and pressing align with preparation — manifestation follows.

Reflection Questions

  1. Am I pursuing God Himself, or just religious activity?
  2. What distractions are stealing my spiritual focus?
  3. What part of my past am I still allowing to define me?
  4. Where has opposition discouraged me from pressing forward?
  5. What practical preparation am I making for God’s presence in my life?

Action Steps

1. Strengthen Your Focus
  • Set aside 15–30 minutes daily for undistracted prayer and Scripture.
  • Limit digital distractions during devotional time.
  • Meditate on one verse throughout the day.

2. Release the Past
  • Write down what you need to forgive or let go of.
  • Pray specifically over that area.
  • Replace shame statements with biblical truth.

3. Practice Pressing
  • Identify one area where you’ve wanted to quit.
  • Take one intentional step forward this week.
  • Show up consistently — even when you don’t feel like it.

4. Prepare the Temple
  • Evaluate habits that don’t align with God’s Word.
  • Commit to obedience in one specific instruction you’ve been avoiding.
  • Increase praise — worship out loud daily.

final thought

There is a next level in God.

But it requires hunger.
It requires discipline.
It requires preparation.

Focus.
Forget.
Press.

And watch what happens when the glory fills the temple. ?
